SNAP formerly known as food stamps is a federal program administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture
SNAP provides food purchasing assistance to low income households
To eligible for SNAP program need to meet certain eligibility requirements and sets restrictions on net and gross monthly income broken down into household size
To meet eligibility criteria your income must be not more than to the U.S. poverty level
The highest income levels for fiscal year 2023 come into effect on October 1, 2022
Maximum SNAP allotments will increase for the 48 states and the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Alaska
In the 48 contiguous states and D.C maximum benefits will be $939 for a family of four
In Hawaii maximum benefits will be $1,794 for a family of four
In Guam maximum benefits will be $1,385 for a family of four
In U.S. Virgin Islands maximum benefits will be $1,208 for a family of four
In Alaska maximum benefits will be in the range of $1,172 to $1,819 for a family of four
